Revered as an incarnation of the primordial energy, Mahayogini Maya, Maa Kailadevi is the divine daughter born to Nanda and Yashoda. The historical and spiritual significance of the shrine is further affirmed in the ancient Skanda Purana, which references the Goddess as "Keleshwari".
